Indian Govt bans 59 Chinese Apps Including TikTok

Digital Strike on China as India bans Chinese Applications



Due to the current dispute between the borders of China and India, the government of India finally decided to ban specific 59 Chinese applications because of the privacy concerns while delivering users data.

From the past couple of weeks, the tension is continuously increasing between the Chinese and Indian Army and both sides faced some casualties, in between all these the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeIT) stated that the 59 potential apps have been banned and they announced the press release for the more clarification.

This is the statement by the Government of India in the Press release.
 The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking it’s power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the emergent nature of threats has decided to block 59 apps since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.

The list of banned application has some of the very famus applications such as TikTok, Es File Explore, Shareit and many more. Most of these applications are downloaded by the millions of time form the application stores in smartphones. TikTok is a very popular entertainment app amongst youngsters but from past 2 to 3 months, some users are complaining about the vulgarity in content on the TikTok also the data breach scenarios.

Even the CERT-IN (The Computer Emergency response Team of India) receives tons of manifestations regarding the data violation and privacy issues pf the public data.

Hopefully, this step will ensure that the data of the user will secure and will not impact on supremacy in the cyberspace in India.
